We are Chris and Sabrina, a.k.a. Speakeasy Great Danes. Our love of the breed began in 2005 when we were lucky enough to purchase Sadie (our first-ever dog!) from Teresa La Brie (WYSIWYG Great!Danes). Sadie soon became WYSIWYG’s Sconset Grey Lady CGC BN RE NAJ NF NJP NFP and we became hooked on Danes. Our Central Massachusetts house is now the home to several Great Danes and, under the guidance of wonderful mentors, we currently train and show in conformation, obedience, and agility. We’ve traveled to 25 states showing our Danes and hope to hit the full continental 48 sometime. We are active members of the Great Dane Club of New England and Great Dane Club of America and can be found at dog shows or agility trials most weekends throughout the year.
Why Speakeasy? While we do enjoy an occassional cocktail, the inspiration for Speakeasy lies in our belief that we should treat our Danes (and our fellow Dane owners!) with kindness and ease. We opt to leave our Danes’ ears natural, feed a carefully planned home-prepared diet, use minimally invasive medical treatments, and train with positive reward-based methods.
